Jessi Loring (She/her)
Year One Practicum Student
Hello, my name is Jessi Loring and my pronouns are she/her. I got my bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Early Childhood Development. Before entering the Counseling MA program, I worked locally as a social worker for 3 years. I have experience working with individuals who are unhoused, navigating substance use and recovery, caregivers and children working with child welfare services, and adults working with adult protective services. I enjoy working with a Person-Centered lens and focus on providing my clients with unconditional positive regard.
There are very few settings in life where we can talk about ourselves in an accepting, nonjudgmental, and confidential space. I appreciate the special space of therapy for giving people the room to explore previous experiences, inner beliefs and thought patterns. I appreciate the ability to connect with others and serve as a witness to someone’s growth and exploration of self. I aim to incorporate Gestalt approaches and trauma-informed care into my current and future work.
My hobbies outside of school and work are reading, playing video games and nature walks.
