Biography:
Resilience is the capacity to work through difficult situations and adapt to hardship. My approach working with clients focuses on bringing awareness to each individual’s unique inner strengths and collaboratively problem solving to further develop coping skills and a growth mindset in the midst of life’s challenges.
I moved to Humboldt County from Florida in 2011 to attend graduate school here and immersed myself in the humbling beauty of redwood groves, peaceful rivers, and pristine beaches. Grounding myself through connecting with nature is how I prefer to spend my free time. I also love the healing power of music and the regulating benefits of movement.
I have worked with a diverse population of youth and families locally in a therapeutic setting for over a decade (including LGBTQ+, unhoused, foster youth, Tribal, probation involved and neurodiverse populations). My theoretical orientation is systems-based which is the idea that an individual's thoughts, feelings and behaviors are influenced by a variety of factors (including social settings, culture, economic class, home environment and family dynamics)--and examining these structures to find ways of adapting missing elements of a given system to promote overall wellness. I am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and have a special interest in Shame Focused treatment methods. I appreciate the opportunity to be present with any individual on their journey of healing and resilience.
