Tams Iraheta (they/she)

Second Year Practicum Student

Biography:

Hello! I'm Tams, a second-year student in the Master’s Counseling Program at Cal Poly Humboldt. I earned my BA in Critical Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, focusing on Multicultural Queer Studies, from the same university. Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up on occupied Tongva Land (Pasadena). I have experience working with queer and trans communities in various roles, including case management and medical healthcare. My interests in counseling modalities include EMDR, trauma-informed care, and behavioral therapies such as DBT, CBT, ACT, and MBCT. I am passionate about mental and sexual health, and my goal is to create a safe and authentic space for clients as they navigate their healing journeys.

When I'm not studying or working, I enjoy collecting manga, watching anime, caring for my plants and cat, crocheting, playing cozy video games, listening to music, and spending time in nature.
